Planning a wedding can be very stressful if you do not want to hire a wedding planner. It is one of the most important days of your life and you want to remember it forever. By not being afraid to ask for help and pacing yourself, your wedding will be a fun event to plan instead of a stressful one.
Before the Wedding
If you have had a long weekend and need to destress, take some moments in the day where you turn off technology. This means turning off your phone, computer, and TV. If they are on, you will feel the need to continue checking off each item of your wedding to-do list or checking in with those you have hired for your wedding. Take moments to destress by going for a walk, taking a bath, or turning on music. The point is to enjoy a peaceful moment with yourself and your spouse-to-be. You can also ask parents and friends to pitch in whether it is your bridesmaids, maid of honor, best man, or groom’s attendants. This can mean helping to make place cards, decorating tables, or tying ribbons on party favors.
During the Wedding
Take a moment after the wedding ceremony to be with your spouse. It may be hard to do with all of your wedding guests and having to take pictures, but find time to pick a quiet spot for the two of you to talk, and connect for a moment. You should also sit down and have a snack as well as a breather because of the long night that you had. This is your special day so you should be putting you and your spouse’s needs first.
After the Wedding
You may have spent all year planning for this wedding and feel dull that there is nothing else to plan. Your days are no longer scheduled which leaves a lot of room for relaxing. You have a lot to look forward to and be excited about such as your honeymoon, house hunting, adopting a pet, or planning the birth of your first child. Remember that your wedding was only the beginning of the adventures you and your spouse will have together. Lean on your spouse before, during, and after the wedding. Asking others for help and enjoying the wedding planning process will help you enjoy your special day and the many more that will come with your spouse.
